Titanium Drop Earrings

Citrine, like amethyst, belongs to the quartz family, and more specifically, to that of macrocrystalline quartz; that is, its crystals are visible to the naked eye.

Where does the word “Citrine” come from?

The word "citrine" comes from the Latin "citrus" which means lemon because of its very often yellow color.

What are the colors of Citrine?

Citrine is mostly yellow but it can have variations ranging from very light yellow to a dark yellow, almost brown or golden.

However, citrine is rarely found in its natural state, so most often it is heated amethyst. Indeed, the two stones have an identical chemical composition, density, hardness and dispersion of light, and the purple color of amethyst turns yellow when the stone is subjected to high temperatures. It is of course mandatory to mention if the color of the gem results from heating.

What is the symbolism of Citrine?

Today, citrine symbolizes human warmth and friendliness as well as births in November (along with imperial topaz and tiger's eye).

Where does it come from?

Citrine deposits are mainly found in Brazil, the United States and Madagascar.
However, it can also be found in Argentina, Scotland, Spain, Myanmar (Burma), Namibia and Russia.

How do I maintain my jewel set with a Citrine?

Some citrine colors may "fade" when exposed to UV. Avoid exposing the citrine to excessive light unnecessarily.

It is possible to clean your citrine with steam but it is not recommended to do it by ultrasound.
As with amethyst, water and dishwashing liquid and drying with a microfiber cloth will be enough to restore its shine.
