Solitaire Think of Me

Peridot is a variety of gem also known as chrysolite or olivine.

Where does the name “Peridot” come from?

Peridot is also known as "chrysolite" from the Greek khrusolithos meaning "stone of gold" and "olivine" used in mineralogy in reference to the olive green color of peridot.

What is the color of Peridot?

While peridot is known for its green color, it can vary from yellow-green to olive-green and even have a brownish tint.

Also, dark peridots can be lightened by heating, and the use of this process must be mentioned during the sale.

What is its symbolism?

Today, peridot symbolizes renewal and the future as well as births in August (like spinel and onyx).

Where does it come from?

Today, peridots can be found in Myanmar but also in South Africa, Australia, Brazil, China, Eritrea, the United States, Kenya, Mexico, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Tanzania.

How do I care for my jewel set with a Peridot?

Some Peridots can be damaged by both physical and thermal shocks. Dishwashing liquid and water on a microfiber cloth will be enough to restore the shine of your stone.
