Surfing has always been one of Lorenz Bäumer's passions, which is how he discovered the island of Sumba in Indonesia in 2003. Beyond the splendor of the landscapes, he was immediately attracted by the smiles of the children who welcomed him. These radiant faces despite difficult living conditions have never left him.
According to Lorenz Bäumer "Each child, wherever he lives, represents the future of our planet, and all deserve to grow up in the best conditions to be an actor in the world of tomorrow". It is a cause that affects him very personally as a citizen of the world but also as a father. He therefore wanted to make a commitment to the future of the children by accompanying them in their school careers.
Thanks to close collaboration with the Sumba Foundation, whose main mission is to make life easier for Indonesians on the island of Sumba while respecting their culture and traditions, Maison Bäumer supports access to education for children in the 'island.
Inspired by the cultural heritage of Sumba: their sculptures, the images on their houses but also the weaving of their baskets. Lorenz Bäumer has designed an unprecedented collection of silver pendants. The jewels are made in the villages thanks to their ancestral know-how.
A pendant sold can accompany seven children with their school supplies for a year. Since the beginning of this project, Maison Bäumer has supported more than 20,000 children with the collaboration of the Sumba Foundation.
